Yamaha 5.5x14" Stage Custom Birch Snare Drum
Yamaha 5.5x14" Stage Custom Birch Snare Drum
Yamaha's iconic entry level Stage Custom snare drums are now available at Good Hands! In our opinion, this is one of the best value snare drums available on the market for beginner/intermediate use or as a backup or practice room drum.
Birch Shell
The Stage Custom emplys 100% birch - a classic in the realm of high-class drum kits. Moreover, with its six-ply structure the Stage Custom accurately conveys the vibrations produced at the impact surface.
Triple Flange Steel Hoop
This hoop can be used in all situations for a wide open sound.
Bearing Edge
R1, 45°
In 40 years of product development, Yamaha has found four wood snare drum bearing edge designs that produce unique tonal character and depth. Sharp edges deliver sharper tone with excellent response and rounded angles produce a rounder, thicker tone. Varying the thickness of the radius top allows for further modification. Using different bearing designs on the top and bottom of the snare is also effective in modifying the tone.
Snare Bed
Snare bed depth greatly influences snare effectiveness making it the most important factor in creating the snare drum sound. This model's snare bed is standard 1.8mm.
Strainer
B type (Release) and P type (Butt)
One-piece Lugs
Our high-tension one-piece lugs can accommodate heads tensioned to the limit.
Snare
Hi-carbon steel 20 strands for 14"size.
Yamaha snare plates offer superior snare to head contact due to the slight bend in their design. When the string is drawn tight, the edge of the patented snare plate is pulled upward putting the snare in full contact with the head.
Nylon strings are covered with a nylon braid for maximum strength and durability.

Condition
Brand New
Brand New items are sold by an authorized dealer or original builder and include all original packaging. Products listed by authorized dealers that are unopened, new in box and are covered under the manufacturer’s original limited warranty.
B-Stock
Items that were opened and returned, have a cosmetic imperfection or were used as demo units in a shop. Many B-Stock items come with a limited manufacturer’s warranty.
Mint (Used)
Mint condition items are completely blemish-free and have not been modified in any way. If there are any blemishes and/or modifications, the item needs to be listed as a condition less than mint.
Excellent (Used)
Excellent items are almost entirely free from blemishes and other visual defects and have been played or used with the utmost care. When an item has been used, but only has minor cosmetic defects, this can be considered Excellent. Minor surface level scratches, such as fingerprints or stick marks from regular use, would qualify.
Very Good (Used)
Very Good describes items with more cosmetic imperfections than Excellent, but are still in great condition overall. There may be some scratches, finish dings, slight keyholing or light pitting, but nothing that affects the playability or function of the gear.
Good (Used)
Good condition includes items that are in fine working order, but have significant cosmetic imperfections. A cymbal with substantial fleabites, or an old snare drum with some surface rust on the lugs would be classified as Good. Items with dents, or corrosion qualify as Good as long as they are still playable and fully functional.
Fair (Used)
Fair condition items have various imperfections that impact the function of the item. Fair items aren’t broken, but have some minor functional issues. Examples of items in Fair condition are cymbals with repaired cracks, or a playable drum kit with several extra holes.
Poor (Used)
Poor condition items have clear functional problems that will generally require repair. Examples of items in Poor condition include a snare drum with broken lugs, a cymbal with substantial un-repaired cracks, or a drum kit stripped of its finish and missing hoops or other hardware.
