A lovely 6.5x14" WFL snare drum from the late 1950s. This is the School Festival model, with eight lugs, triple flanged hoops, 3-ply shell, and P83 throw-off. In great working order with moderate age-spotting, light surface pitting/rust, and one extra hole underneath the throw-off. Tone control has been removed. Medium attack with a very well-blended warm tone and plenty of dynamic range.

From the 1960 Ludwig catalog:

"A quality concert drums designed especially for the school band and orchestra. The "Festival" is acoustically built to provide the correct response and volume for concert hall performance. Specifications: sturdy laminated shell reinforced with rock-maple glue rings, 16 self-aligning tension casings, positive "deep-drop" snare throw-off, original triple-flanged hoops, matched heads. Available in your choice of pearl, lacquer or mahogany finishes."
