A pair of rare Slingerland 7x13" and 7x14" Humberto Morales signature model timbales. The Leedy Drum Company offered an identical pair of timbales throughout the 1950s. After a brief association between the two companies, Slingerland re-marketed the same instruments as "Tito Puente" signature models for the 1960s. Leedy continued with Morales, and this seems to be a pair that was produced right at the transitional period between the split. There is no known catalog offering for a Slingerland Humberto Morales model.

The shells are round and in solid condition, with age-typical flaking and pitting on the lacquer. The heads are original calf, with signature stamps, and tucked on metal counterhoops. There are several spots of splitting on the hoops, but none on the surface of the heads. An original accessory bracket is mounted on the 13".

The drums sound great, have a wonderful vibe, and are a cool piece from a unique moment in drum history.
