This is a beautiful and rare Hinger Touch Tone snare drum from the 1970s. Hinger was a company that specialized in timpani, but in the 1970s, Al Duffy—after many years of experimenting on his own, worked for Hinger and made snare drums. This is a beautiful-sounding drum, adept at spanning the range of classical as well as jazz as popular music at the time it was made. The cast aluminum throw-off is smooth as ever (and a beautiful workhorse design). The original snare wires have been replaced with Canopus 20-Strand Dry. Ten lugs, with triple-flanged hoops. The lug screws and tension rods have developed a decent amount of rust, and a few are seized up. The drum operates as-is, but a little TLC would get it back to optimal functionality. The chrome pitting shows moderate pitting. These Hinger drums don't come around too frequently (we haven't had one in shop in over 3 years), so if you've had your eye out for one, this might be a good time!
