This is a stunning and rare Limited Edition Galaxy Snare Drum made by the company Drum Heaven in the 1990s—a collaborative effort between Jon Cohan as designer and Steven Schifer, who built the drum itself. It is one of a limited edition run of only 10 drums made, and was engraved by John Aldridge. Made from timpani copper with a heavy, hand engraved 6.5x14" shell, brass reinforcing rings, eight solid brass tube lugs, gold-plated triple-flanged hoops, drop throw-off, and Puresound snare wires. The drum is in very good condition, with light but notable surface pitting around the hardware and shell. This drum is a joy to play and sounds incredible—equally at home providing rich, warm tone and powerful, pingy rim shots.

From Jon Cohan:

"After two prototypes, which had brass re-rings that doubled as bearing edges soldered onto the copper, we landed on the idea of laying the hand hammered copper walls inside a slot on rounded (and very strong) brass bar stock onto which we machined the bearing edges and snare beds. I originally had ten 6.5x14" shells made, which were engraved with a classic pattern by good friend and master engraver John Aldridge."
