Jess Birch - Owner

A drum lover since 10 years old, Jess has spent the last 35+ years exploring percussive sounds on and off the stage. He was the founding manager of Steve Maxwell's NYC location and in 2022 opened Good Hands Drum Shop. He spends his free time riding bikes and drinking coffee or beer, and also loves to be outside standing in water. He's been playing or listening to music of some sort since childhood and finds solitude rewarding. Jess is widely credited for developing the rarely used Reverse Inverse Traditional Grip.
