Rogers 5x14" Dynasonic Snare Drum - 1960s COB - SN 31383
Rogers 5x14" Dynasonic Snare Drum - 1960s COB - SN 31383
A late-1960 Rogers 5x14" Dynasonic brass snare drum. All original with ten lugs, tall hoops, and 5-line shell. In great shape with the snare mechanism working well. Light pitting and wear on the plating.
In its time, the Dynasonic was a ground-shattering innovation and a revelation for drummers yearning to be seen as musicians on a plane with other instrumentalists—with the capability to express themselves in nuance, range, sensitivity and musicality beyond their often caricatured reputation.
From the 1967 Rogers catalog:
"THIS is the drum that "couldn't be built." This is the drum that solved a problem that "couldn't be solved." Before Dyna-Sonic, you tightened the snares, and the snares choked the head. Dyna-Sonic changes all that. Because your snares ride on an exclusive floating snare frame. They ride with the snare head, never dampen it. There's no choking. There's never a snare slap What does this mean to you? All this:
1. PINPOINT DEFINITION. You hear the result of each stroke, even at full power, always without distortion.
2. CHOKE-FREE SOUND. Always clear and crisp, never mushy.
3. FASTER STICK REBOUND. You get added speed and better feel with half the effort. Your drum head feels solid, never soft.
4. FULL DYNAMIC RANGE. Everywhere on the head. There are no dead spots, even at the edges. Your sound projects easily. You hear the snare sound clearly.
5. THE SOUND OF MUSIC. This drum has true musical sound. The ton quality is built in - a result of the matched relationship between new floating snares, heads, and custom-shell.
6. SIMPLEST ADJUSTMENT OF ANY DRUM. A single tension screw gives you one-point uniform tensioning. It stays as you set it. The new snare frame doubles as protective guard for the snares.
Could you ask for more?"

Condition
Brand New
Brand New items are sold by an authorized dealer or original builder and include all original packaging. Products listed by authorized dealers that are unopened, new in box and are covered under the manufacturer’s original limited warranty.
B-Stock
Items that were opened and returned, have a cosmetic imperfection or were used as demo units in a shop. Many B-Stock items come with a limited manufacturer’s warranty.
Mint (Used)
Mint condition items are completely blemish-free and have not been modified in any way. If there are any blemishes and/or modifications, the item needs to be listed as a condition less than mint.
Excellent (Used)
Excellent items are almost entirely free from blemishes and other visual defects and have been played or used with the utmost care. When an item has been used, but only has minor cosmetic defects, this can be considered Excellent. Minor surface level scratches, such as fingerprints or stick marks from regular use, would qualify.
Very Good (Used)
Very Good describes items with more cosmetic imperfections than Excellent, but are still in great condition overall. There may be some scratches, finish dings, slight keyholing or light pitting, but nothing that affects the playability or function of the gear.
Good (Used)
Good condition includes items that are in fine working order, but have significant cosmetic imperfections. A cymbal with substantial fleabites, or an old snare drum with some surface rust on the lugs would be classified as Good. Items with dents, or corrosion qualify as Good as long as they are still playable and fully functional.
Fair (Used)
Fair condition items have various imperfections that impact the function of the item. Fair items aren’t broken, but have some minor functional issues. Examples of items in Fair condition are cymbals with repaired cracks, or a playable drum kit with several extra holes.
Poor (Used)
Poor condition items have clear functional problems that will generally require repair. Examples of items in Poor condition include a snare drum with broken lugs, a cymbal with substantial un-repaired cracks, or a drum kit stripped of its finish and missing hoops or other hardware.
